Technical Training and Development Specialist

SUMMARY:   This position is accountable for the assessment, design, development, and, as needed, delivery of complex or technically challenging training solutions and programs, which address the critical Field Operations, Dealer/Partner Network, and Field Support issues. The focus of these training programs relates to the installation and service of the WildBlue end-user systems.

ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Design and conduct training needs analysis tools to support new and on-going training development and strategic planning.
  • Design and develop classroom, online, and self-paced learning modules along with related classroom collateral.
  • Design and develop documentation and materials that provide users with direction about systems, updated processes, and work instructions.
  • Administrative duties require the support document control and training implementation activities.   Administrative tasks include: posting/logging/archiving of training materials and the final posting of the materials to the SharePoint site, the Learning Management System, and other corporate Web sites.
  • Deliver classroom training, working to ensure the success of the participants through excellent program design, classroom delivery techniques, and knowledge of content.

  • Proficient user of MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Must have experience using Adobe Captivate and SharePoint, with Flash experience preferred
  • Ability to define and develop branching scenarios
  • Ability to define assessment tools along with content development
  • Be highly detail-oriented and have excellent critical thinking skills
  • Ability to interface with departmental managers
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills are essential
  • Ability to set up technical equipment for student demonstrations or labs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience delivering classroom-based training
  • Prior experience interfacing with third parties, vendors and partners is required
  • Experience creating learning content from information gleaned from subject matter experts
  • Must have strong experience using the ADDIE Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model
  • Additional background in Adult Learning Theory preferred
  • Minimum 5 years technical training experience.
  • Satellite, cable, or telco industry experience required.
